Basic Tomato based Fat Burner Soup
 
 

Ingredients:

28 oz. of S&W brand ready cut diced tomatoes
28 oz. Trader Joes diced tomatoes in tomato juice
1 seeded and dice jalapeno pepper
1 T. Piment d'ville basque red pepper powder
1 T. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. dried oregano
2 bay leaves
2 shakes celery seeds
3T beef bullion paste to taste
1/2 lb. cubed beef, (if not canning, can toss with 1-2 T. flour before sautéing to thicken the broth slightly)
12 large sliced button mushrooms
1 yellow onion
5 cloves garlic, pressed
4 stalks celery split in half lengthwise and cut 1/8” thick on the bias
2 carrots, sliced thin and roughly chopped. 
3 C. chopped green spinach
1 red bell pepper
1lb. green cabbage, shredded (1 small head with center cut out)
1/2 C. roughly chopped fresh Italian parsley
1 T. Seasoned rice vinegar.
2 – 32 oz. boxes of Swanson 100% natural and fat free beef broth
2 – 32 oz. boxes of Trader Joes ginger miso ginger broth
4+ C. water to thin broth to desired taste
3 - 4 T. olive oil

Assembly:


  • Add oil to the bottom of a dutch oven. Roughly chop the onion and peppers and sauté with garlic. Add sliced mushrooms and jalapeno and sauté until onions are slightly caramelized.
  • Add chopped carrots, celery, cabbage, spinach and parsley. Sauté until slightly limp.
  • Saute cubed beef with piment d'ville pepper powder and worchesterschire sauce and remaining spices.
  • Add diced tomatoes, beef broth, bullion and stir.
  • Can add 1-2 tsp. lemon zest for more depth of flavor if desired...
  • Add the rice vinegar to taste.
Combine all ingredients and low simmer for 40 minutes. Makes 8 quarts.

This soup also makes a great light, low calorie chili with the addition of the below ingredients to a 1 quart jar of soup…

1 tsp. Agave

1 tsp. chili powder

½ lb. lean ground beef

  • Fry lean hamburger in separate skillet until lightly browned, drain and blot out oil and add to 1 quart of the soup.
  • Add chili powder.
  • Add agave.
  • Cook for an additional 15 minutes and serve.
